Everyone has their favorite, go-to restaurant. Some of their best, identifying qualities? Achingly delicious food, warm atmosphere, and friendly, professional service. Lucky for Gardiner natives, we have four (and counting) restaurants that hit it out of the park year after year. So why stick to just one favorite? We've got a few reasons why you should try them all.
Mountain Brauhaus. Ever walk into a restaurant and feel like you're at a home away from home? Enter Mountain Brauhaus - your rustic, German 'home away from home.' Opened by German settlers and brothers in 1955, what was formerly known as the "Sugar Bowl" has been passed on from one generation to the next and has become a staple in our town of Gardiner. You might even say that it's become a stomping grounds for locals, climbers and out-of-towners to join one another for a pint, good company and a hearty meal. If the line that often finds it's way out the door is any indication, prepare yourself for some seriously delicious German food, (seriously).

Lombardi's. Lombardi's has been serving homemade Italian dishes in Gardiner, NY since 1973. That's over 40 years of perfecting their homemade pasta, authentic Italian breads and classic tomato sauce. And we'd like to think that they've perfected all of their recipes. From their decadent lasagna with over 15 layers of their ever-so-light homemade lasagna noodles to their classic parmigiana's to their house made focaccia flatbread pizzas, every dish has a signature flair reminiscent of a meal in Italy. Is your mouth watering yet? They'd love to accommodate you, just be sure to make a reservation; it's a hot spot for dinner in Gardiner!

Cafe Mio. Located in Gardiner Gables, Cafe Mio opened in May 2010. Since then, esteemed Chef Michael Bernardo has been serving both quality interpretations of classic dishes and bold new ventures chalked in daily on the specials board. This bustling open-kitchen eatery ornate with the work of local artists, serves both savory and sweet renderings of breakfast and lunch. Including favorite classics with a twist like banana-bacon french toast and a homemade corned beef breakfast hash or exotic choices like the greek breakfast pizza and blackened catfish sandwich, Cafe Mio has your most important meal(s) of the day covered.

Tuthill House at the Mill. Nestled between the home of Hudson Whiskeys Tuthilltown Spirits and the beautiful Shawangunkill River, this newly renovated Grist Mill is a great option for Gardiner residents who enjoy their meal with an ode to the town's history (and a pretty fantastic view.) With a menu featuring French-inspired cuisine, it's easy to get lost in the unique plating of each dish and the beautiful marriage of flavors evoked by the restaurant's accomplished chef. Pair that with the breathtaking backdrop of the roaring falls and the river that flows beyond the lush landscape, and you've got a recipe for a fantastic meal.
